After being confined for nearly ten months in the Gregg County Jail on several felony charges, without having been indicted by a grand jury, Corey Dewayne Fisher filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him for want of a speedy trial. Those charges stemmed from Fishers November 10, 2004, arrest for possession of more than four grams of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of more than four grams but less than 200 grams of cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Fisher submitted his dismissal motions to the 188th Judicial District Court August 26, 2005. That same day, the trial court scheduled a hearing on the motions for September 7, 2005.
